Using clip-in filters will affect your lens's focal distance and focusing system. This will not cause any problems in manual mode if you focus using the screen or LCD, or when using autofocus modes. However, if you use the focal distance markings on your lens, they will no longer be accurate. For example, the infinity markings on lenses will be inaccurate, so you will need to focus manually to account for this adjustment.

With some lenses where the rear element is very far from the sensor, vignetting may be visible. In this case, stop down the aperture by a few stops to remove this effect. This has been observed, for example, with the Tamron 18-300 lens.
